Custom Gerotor Pump and Gear Pump Design

As befits a leader in the design, development and manufacture of custom engineered gerotor pumps & gear pumps, Cascon holds several patents on gear pump and gerotor pump design. In 1971, Cascon founder Edward H. Gervais II received U.S. Patent 3,623,829. Thirty-two years later, Edward H. Gervais III received US Patent 6,617,367 B1 in 2003 and, in 2004, US Patent 6,702,703 B2.

3,623,829: Internal Gear Set

An internal gear set comprising an inner gear having a number of radically projecting cylindrical tooth members engaging a conjugate internally tooth outer gear. The latter has one more tooth than there are tooth members on the inner gear and is mounted eccentrically to the inner gear so that the gears move conjugately relative to one other.

6,617,367 B1: Internally generated rotor set for low viscosity and abrasive metering applications

An internal gear set comprising an inner rotor having a number of radially projecting cylindrical tooth members engaging a conjugate internally toothed outer rotor. The latter has one more tooth than there are tooth members on the inner rotor and is mounted eccentrically to the inner rotor so that the rotors move conjugately relative to one other.

6,702,703 B2: Lubrication pump for inter-axle differential

An inter-axle differential assembly comprises an input shaft, an output shaft arranged coaxially with respect to each other, differential gearing and a dedicated reversible gerotor type lubrication pump includes a rotor driven by the input shaft, and an impeller, both disposed within a pump body coupled to a side gear drivingly connected to the output shaft. Thus, the lubrication pump generates lubricant flow only during the differential action between the input shaft and the output shaft, i.e. only when needed and at a flow rate proportional to the speed difference across the differential assembly. An oil flow generated by the lubrication pump is supplied to various components of the inter-axle differential assembly through a gallery of fluid passages.
